No running today as I had a tooth out and the dentist says no exercise for 24 hours. I didn’t have anything scheduled in and it is really freezing out so good excuse to sit by the fire. Also gives me an opportunity to review race plans over the next 121 days (for that, according to the Brighton Marathon website, is how long I’ve got to train in.
Only race booked so far is the Brighton Half which runs on February 17th. If you haven’t done it it’s a definite recommend, starting and finishing on Marine Drive near the pier. Big field but plenty of space on the roads and the classic finish along the promenade. Only problem is that entries closed on September 30th last year, so no chance for 2013 if you are not already entered (unless there may still be charity places available?). If you want to run it in 2014, make sure you enter early!
Will be picking out some others to break up the training and to give some benchmarks on current performance. I normally do the Valentines 10k in Chessington (organized by 26.2 RC) but this falls on the same day as Brighton so will need to find an alternative. The long race prior to the marathon will be either (both?) the Spitfire 20 or the Cranleigh 21 on March 24. Then the following Sunday will be a “rest” day organizing the Richmond 13.1 HM. Now over 60 entries and building!
Gotta go! Time to hit the supermarket.
